Chiropractic Treatments
Chiropractic is an all-encompassing treatment at CFC. Besides manual spinal manipulation (the satisfying “crack” which may (but not always) be heard), many other treatment modalities are offered in our Cary office, including dry needling, cupping, instrument assisted soft tissue (examples of this are Graston and FAKTR), manual soft tissue work, extremity manipulation and mobilization, and rehabilitation.
Pediatric Chiropractic
Pediatric chiropractic care is a gentle and holistic approach to supporting the health, development and well-being of children.
Pediatric chiropractic treatment can help improve common issues like colic, ear infections, torticollis, or difficulty latching while breastfeeding. Chiro for infants is much more gentle than chiropractic treatment for older children, and it looks different.
Children, teens & young athletes can also benefit from chiropractic treatment. In addition to improving mobility, posture, neck pain & sports injury, pediatric chiropractic treatment has also been found to improve sleep, behavior, attitude & immune system function.
CFC offers pediatric chiropractic treatment for infants through the teenage years in our Cary, NC office.
Rehabilitation & DNS
Just as our name alludes to, rehab is a crucial way for individuals to develop a solid foundation in order to change the adapted behaviors and movement patterns that may be contributing to their pain. A specific type of rehab, known as Dynamic Neuromuscular Rehabilitation (DNS for short) has a strong presence at CFC.
DNS focuses on developmental kinesiology, looking at how babies move in their first years of life (which if left to their own devices, is really well, by the way!) and applying it to kids and adults. These movements help to restore dysfunction that could occur from injury (acute or chronic), adapted movement patterns, asymmetries in muscles, and much more.
Although the movements seem simple at times, once done correctly, this type of rehab can make significant changes to your progress.
Foot & Gait Assessment
Your feet are one of the main foundations to help give you support as you navigate the world.

There are 33 joints and over 100 muscles and ligaments in each foot and ankle, suggesting that there is a lot of complexity and importance in this area of your body!

Schedule an extensive foot & gait analysis to take a deep dive into learning more about how a better gait can improve function and reduce muscle pain in your entire body!
Dry Needling
Dry needling was accidentally invented when local anesthesia was being administered to patients. Much to a practitioner’s surprise, patients were commenting on how good they felt almost instantly. Understanding that the anesthesia was not taking effect that quickly, experimentation began with a “dry needle”, meaning that it was a needle with nothing to be injected into the tissue. Patients were receiving the same results, and dry needling was invented!
Dry needling can be a quick and effective way to normalize muscle length and function, and it is also a great way to reduce swelling in acute injuries (Dr. Smith loves dry needling for sprained ankles!).
There are numerous studies noting the benefits of dry needling, which may include the following: relief of acute myofascial pain, chronic pain, decompression, increased blood flow, reduced swelling and more.
Cupping Therapy & Chiro
Cupping has been believed to originate from early Egyptian and Chinese medical practices (in the BCE time period).
Some of the reported effects of cupping therapy include promotion of the skin's blood flow, changing of the skin's biomechanical properties, increasing pain thresholds, improving local anaerobic metabolism, reducing inflammation, and modulation of the cellular immune system
Kinesiology Taping & Chiro
Elastic therapeutic tape, also known as kinesiology tape, is gaining a lot of popularity with athletes, however can be potentially beneficial for just about everyone.
Kinesiology tape can help to create stability in an area through facilitating increased awareness of an area and by pulling on the skin and fascia in different directions. Less forgiving tape, known as leukotape, can also be used to intentionally restrict movement in certain directions, or to encourage movement of joints in a more efficient pattern.
Breathwork Therapy
Breathing is something we do every day, because it’s a necessary part of surviving. However, the majority of people are doing just that. They are surviving by breathing, but not thriving by breathing correctly.
Breath and different techniques are discussed for different reasons. Some of the breathing techniques come from DNS, while others are ancient breathing techniques that are now used by the Navy Seals and elite athletes. Dr. Smith is pretty obsessed when it comes to how powerful the breath can be in just about anything going on in our life.
